The Mimic
Issue 20
Against a background
story of drug dealing in Central Park, Mr. Shepherd meets with Benito
Medici, son of Augustus, the leader of the Trust. Benito is the heir
apparent to his father's position, but is reluctant to accept the
responsibility. The
members of the Trust are not happy that Graves is alive. Shepherd failed
in his mission to destroy the Minutemen. The two men discuss Graves'
motives. Benito suggests cutting Graves off from 'the game', no guns, no
bullets. Shepherd thinks this will cause a war, and suggests waiting for
Graves to show his hand. The
conversation continues in similar vein. We learn that the ultra-violent
sadist Lono is less dangerous than "that fucker Burns", but that
even they were not the most deadly of the Minutemen. Benito suspects
Shepherd of some duplicity over Atlantic City and the events since Graves
has been revealed to be alive. Maybe this is because Shepherd was once a
Minuteman himself before being 'retired'. The conversation concludes with
the suggestion that as graves always operates by a strict moral code,
perhaps the Trust can use this against him. Maybe Graves' methods will
prove to be his undoing. Comments
