Mr. Branch
and the Family Tree
Issue 26
Back in Paris, we
again see Branch as he takes a prostitute back to his room. They talk in
French. She asks about the clippings on Branch's wall. He says they are a
pastime, she believes they are an obsession. As she apparently speaks no
English, Branch tells her about his obsession in his native tongue. He
tells a tale of the Trust, Graves and the Minutemen whilst enjoying the
pleasures of his companion. Story told, and business concluded, Branch
passes out on the bed.
His companion
dresses, and as she leaves empties his wallet. Her parting comment makes
it clear that her English is perfect. The slam of the door
stirs Branch. During his story he has had a moment of revelation,
realising what Graves is up to, and the fate he has in store for Dizzy. Comments
