The Victim The Wronged Man The Culprit

Okay, maybe there's some reason you didn't twig but I can't see it. Dallas, November '63 is so obviously John F. Kennedy. Kennedy was involved with a movie star who started to blab quite openly about their affair. This movie star died under mysterious circumstances sometime on the night of August 4th 1962, her body was discovered by her housekeeper the following morning. Step forward Norma Jean Mortenson Baker. In 1954 Marilyn was married to probably the most successful baseball player of all time, even if that marriage lasted less than a year. Our protagonist therefore, is former New York Yankee, Joltin' Joe DiMaggio. Although divorced, Joe and Marilyn remained close friends. DiMaggio organised Marilyn Monroe's funeral and had flowers delivered to her grave three times a week for the next twenty years, but never spoke of her in public. DiMaggio died in 1999, aged 84.

The implied identities are fairly obvious, but the story as a whole offers a great explanation as to who the man on the 'grassy knoll' was, and his motives for the assassination of the President of the United States of America. To tie these two pieces of popular conspiracy theory together, and then add the spin of the involvement of Agent Graves and the Trust is a great piece of writing, making this short story my favourite of the book. Nice work Mr. Azzarello.
